10.or G Full Review After A Major OTA Update

10.Or(pronounced as Tenor) a new brand made its entry into the Indian market as an Amazon Exlcusive brand amidst the existing competition with a power-packed budget-oriented smartphone, 10.Or E. It packed very good internals for the price and was a good all-rounder. We had posted our review of the same and you can check it out here. 10.Or E Full Review.

10.Or G is the second smartphone from the brand and it is a mid-range smartphone packing Dual Cameras. We have tested the smartphone extensively and were about to post our full review. But the first major OTA update hit 10.Or G and brought in several improvements and changes. So in this article, let us see the full review of Tenor G after its first major Over The Air a.k.a an OTA update.

Unboxing and Box Contents:

The box comes in a minimalist design with just the brand name on the front and the device name to the sides. The specifications are listed on the back along with other basic information. The quality of the material used in the box is very good and feels premium

On opening up the box, you will find the beautiful 10.Or G itself wrapped in a plastic. Going further, you will find the regular paperwork, travel adapter, and a Micro USB cable. That’s it for the box contents.

Overview:

10.Or G sports a metallic uni-body design which makes it look like a premium smartphone. The display itself is a 2.5D curved display and wraps around the edges. To the left, the Hybrid SIM Tray is located which accepts either 2 SIMS or 1 SIM+MicroSD card. The Micro-USB charge/sync port is located at the bottom which is flanked by a microphone and a speaker on both sides. To the right, the placements of buttons differ. The power button is located at the top right which is then followed by the volume rockers. It took some time to get used to but then it didn’t bother us much. The front of the device houses a 16MP Selfie Camera which is accompanied by a Front Facing LED Flash, regular set of sensors and the beautiful 5.5 inches FULL HD Display.

Display:

10.Or G sports a 5.5 inches FULL HD Display that has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The quality of the display used by Tenor is very good and it is sharp and vivid. The legibility outdoors is pretty good and we did not face any issues with it. The display is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 and it is curved on the edges i.e., a 2.5D display. This gives it a premium feel to hold.

Software:

10.Or G runs on Stock Android based on 7.1.2 Nougat and there are just a couple of Tenor specific applications installed on this smartphone viz 10.Or Care. The biggest Unique Selling Point a.k.a USP of Tenor smartphones is the guaranteed software updates. When the smartphone was launched it did not support USB OTG and VoLTE was not working properly for some users. We also mentioned the same in our FAQ video

But Tenor was swift enough to push out the first major OTA update for 10.Or G which addressed all the issues. USB OTG was enabled and VoLTE was working for all. Brands promising on updates and keeping up their promises is highly appreciated and the same goes with Tenor. Kudos to them for keeping up their promise!

Performance:

10.Or G is one of the first smartphones in India to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 Processor which is clocked at 2.21 GHz. It is coupled with 3GB RAM / 4GB RAM and the one we tested was the 4GB RAM which came with 64GB Internal Storage. The performance of the smartphone was top notch and there was literally no lag when opening up the apps or switching between apps. The day to day performance of this device was excellent and no issues with that.

When it comes to gaming performance of 10.Or G, it could handle any game thrown at it with ease. We did notice a minor lag/delay when launching Asphalt 8 but the gaming experience is very good with all the games. It could handle intensive graphics with ease and the best part is that the temperature remained under control. Yes, the rear was slightly warm after extensive gaming but it is the same case with every other smartphone on the market. In our testing, we did not notice any excessive heating.

Camera:

10.Or G sports Dual 13MP Rear Cameras that has an aperture of f/2.0  and 1.12μm pixel size. The secondary camera aids in taking bokeh shots or the portrait shots. The front-facing camera is 16MP that also comes with a LED Flash to aid in low lighting and during the night. The stock camera application is quite basic with different modes like HDR, Portrait, Macro etc. But there is no dedicated Pro mode on the stock camera app to take the extra control over the pictures. It is not a major con as the pro mode can be easily found on a third party camera application.

Here are some of the sample pictures taken with the camera of 10.Or G

As seen from the above samples, the pictures in daylighting conditions come out very good with ample detail and sharpness. The Dual Camera takes some amazing portrait pictures and it will surely amuse bokeh lovers. The pictures taken in indoor or low lighting conditions had slight noise but the pictures were bright and good. The software updates in the future might optimise the camera performance more.

Dual Speakers:

10.Or G comes with a Dual Dirac speakers wherein the primary speaker is located next to the microphone and the earpiece doubles up as a secondary speaker. The speaker quality is exemplary and the sound is very loud and clear. In the mid-range segment, this must be the best smartphone with regards to Speaker quality. It even exceeds the sound quality of flagship smartphones. Multimedia consumption experience is amazing on this smartphone.

10.Or G

Battery Life:

The 10.Or G is backed up a 4000mAh non-removable battery and the battery life on this smartphone was very good. The supplied charger in the box is a 5V 2A charger and it does not support fast charging. The charging time is approximately 2hrs 20mins. The software has been well optimised for a good battery life on this smartphone.

OTA Update:

10.Or G received its first major software update recently wherein most of the issues were addressed by the company. The changelog included support for OTG, VoLTE improvements, Front facing camera improvements, October Security Patch and much more. We were the first to post a dedicated video on that. You can find it here
